Yes, you will be very active. You will work together in teams and pairs. You will do this because in the world outside of high school you will have to work cooperatively with your boss and other employees and most of the time towards a common goal.

Participation grades will come from turning in homework on time. I will give 100’s to students who complete their work on time. I will do this spontaneously with any class work or homework assignment. Students should stay on task.

Homework will be posted on a calendar. If I do not make a calendar in any given six weeks the students will ALWAYS turn in three things that will complete their Unit Packets. They are:
• Unit Checklists (Usually in 4 parts, I will give this to them.)
• Atlas Activity (1 per chapter, usually given class time for this part)
• Guided Reading Pages (1 per section per chapter in a unit, usually HOMEwork)
If I do not give them a calendar of due dates they will be verbally told to the students in class and posted on the board. Students are responsible for all work! Students will be given 5 to 8 class minutes to work on assigned portions of the packet each day in class. Students may always work ahead if they wish; I even encourage it, especially if they are going to be absent from class.

I will give quizzes regularly in class. Most quizzes will be over the Unit Checklist (the maps that they complete for homework.) Some might however be over the Guided Reading homework. Quizzes will be graded in class after quiz is taken.

Tests will be given over the Unit Packets. Each unit the student will receive 3 test grades. They are:
• Map Test
• Information Test
• Completed Unit Packet
Tests will be over the information completed in the Unit Packet. They can use this packet to study. I may not however have all pages in the packet graded before test time as the unit packets are not due until the day of the last test. If students turn in the papers on time (by posted due dates) I will however have them graded. They will still be responsible for them until turned in as a whole for the Unit Packet test grade.

At the end of the day, I will check folders and give stickers to students who have completed their work and turned it in on time. If they receive a sticker for each homework assignment, they will be rewarded with 5 extra points they may use for any test for that unit. Points may not be divided among tests and may exceed 100 on any test.
